Depends on your working arrangement
Plan for the schedule.
Keep extra costs visible.
These employment costs depend on your shift, coverage and terms. This illustration assumes a standard daytime schedule; your agreed proposal should account for the actual arrangement.
Holidays & rest days
Confirm which dates the team will work and the premiums due. Monthly pay may already cover unworked holidays, so budget only the additional cost.
Night shifts & overtime
Covered work from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. attracts at least a 10% night differential. Kamel includes the agreed night-shift arrangement in its all-inclusive rate. This daytime illustration does not model shift or overtime premiums.
Leave & relief coverage
Separate paid-leave obligations from the cost of another person covering the role. Check any cash-conversion commitments; do not count the same salary twice.
Annual reserves
Spread confirmed annual extras across all 12 months. The calculator already reserves 13th-month pay monthly. Other reserves follow the actual agreement.
Your proposal should confirm these items along with any applicable separation or retirement provision, additional insurance, training and other commitments. DOLE guidance on statutory benefits.
Start with the right number
Start with salary.
See the whole budget.
A Philippine hiring budget starts with the work you need someone to own. For a returns specialist, recording a request, resolving an exception and reviewing recurring problems require different levels of responsibility. Price the responsibilities before choosing a job title.
This guide combines published role benchmarks with a cost model adapted from Kamel’s internal planning workbook. Use the benchmarks to start your search, then use the calculator to add employer contributions, benefits and KamelBPO’s infrastructural and management cost. Each component remains visible, with the combined monthly cost and an hourly equivalent shown in USD and PHP.
The employee’s basic salary plus allowance, before their own contributions and tax deductions.
Cash compensation plus employer contributions, 13th-month provision, benefits and any additional payroll costs.
Employment cost plus KamelBPO’s US$500 monthly infrastructural and management cost per employee. The included services are listed below the calculator.
02 / Role benchmarks
The right role.
A realistic starting point.
Monthly PHP figures published by Jobstreet on the category pages cited below. They cover the wider Philippine job market, rather than Kamel placements or exclusively outsourced roles.
Read these as starting benchmarks. Jobstreet reports typical monthly salaries from full-time job ads, rather than entry-to-senior ranges. Employers may include benefits differently. Check the basic pay and allowance split before comparing an offer with this guide. Source methodology.

Download this data (CSV) ↓Why the national average is not your offer
The PSA’s 2024 survey reported a monthly wage of ₱21,544 across industries, compared with ₱43,676 in information and communications. The survey covered formal establishments with at least 10 workers and measured basic pay plus regular cash allowances for full-time, time-rated workers. These are 2024 observations, published in November 2025.
That context explains why one “average Philippine salary” cannot price every vacancy. Use current role evidence and your actual requirements to set the offer.
03 / Set the scope
Define the work.
Then set the salary.
Years of experience are useful context. A work sample and the decisions someone can make independently are better tools for separating candidates.
Supported execution
The employee follows documented steps, handles a defined queue and escalates exceptions. Budget time for training and review. An experienced title is unnecessary if the work is tightly prescribed.
Independent delivery
The employee runs a workflow, investigates exceptions and checks output before handoff. Specify the systems, customer market and measurable outcomes they must already understand.
Specialist or team ownership
The employee designs processes, reviews other people’s work or owns technical and commercial decisions. Assess judgment and relevant track record as well as task proficiency.
Worked example: a returns and RMA specialist
A Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) Specialist handles the customer-facing process behind returns, exchanges and warranty requests. The scope can range from following a returns checklist to resolving exceptions and coordinating across customer support, inventory and shipping.
| Level of responsibility | Example work | What to assess before setting pay |
|---|---|---|
| Supported execution | Log requests, check order details and follow the approved returns policy. | Written communication, accuracy and ability to follow a documented workflow. |
| Independent delivery | Own the returns queue, coordinate return labels and resolve routine exceptions within agreed limits. | Relevant systems experience, judgment and dependable follow-through. |
| Senior or team responsibility | Handle escalations, review recurring return issues and coach colleagues. | Escalation handling, reporting quality and ability to improve the process. |
These are scope examples, not published salary bands or a promise that every candidate can perform every task. Define approval limits and responsibilities before making an offer.
A worked RMA example
₱30,000 package.
What does the full month cost?
In this example, ₱25,000 is basic salary and ₱5,000 is the allowance. Add employer contributions, 13th-month pay and the fixed HMO provision, then Kamel’s US$500 infrastructural and management cost.
Illustrative salary, not an RMA market average. Uses ₱63.95/US$ and the standard schedule assumptions shown in the calculator. Try your own salary package ↑
Five details. A much sharper brief.
Deliverables
Define what is completed each week and what “good” looks like. “Manage marketing” is much broader than “produce campaign assets from approved briefs.”
Specialisation
Identify essential software, certifications and client-country knowledge. Australian tax experience, for example, should not be assumed from a general accountant title.
Schedule
State Philippine working hours, weekend requirements and whether coverage follows a foreign time zone through daylight-saving changes.
Work location
Compare candidates who can work in the required setting. Do not apply an automatic provincial discount to a specialist role competing for the same talent.
Package
Show basic salary, allowances, variable incentives and benefits separately. A conditional attendance bonus is different from guaranteed pay.
For an offer range, collect several recent comparable vacancies, record the pay components and interview candidates against the same brief. Set the lower end for someone meeting the essential requirements and the upper end for demonstrated additional capability. Do not manufacture junior and senior bands by applying a fixed percentage to one published average.
Minimum wages are a separate check. The applicable regional order, establishment category and work arrangement govern the legal floor. Consult the current NWPC orders when setting an offer.
04 / Compare proposals
Compare the package.
Not just the price.
Put each quote against the same requirements. A lower headline amount can cover a narrower service or a different compensation package.
- Confirm the employee package. Identify basic salary, allowances and conditional incentives. Ask which costs are fixed and which are billed as they occur.
- Match the working arrangement. State hours, shift, office location, equipment specification and whether the person is dedicated to your team.
- Identify included employment services. Check who handles recruitment, employment contracts, payroll, contributions, HR cases and replacements, and what additional fees apply.
- List delivery costs once. Workspace, connectivity, IT support, software licences, team management and training may sit in different parts of each proposal. An “included” line should not be added again.
- Read the commercial terms. Capture setup fees, deposits, currency and exchange-rate rules, taxes, annual reviews, termination notice, direct-hire restrictions and treatment of unused reserves.
Test the budget before committing
Use one ordinary-month scenario and one heavier-coverage scenario. In the second, add the actual overtime, holiday work or temporary cover you expect. For a multi-person team, model distinct salary packages separately; multiplying one average can hide a costly specialist requirement.
Keep exchange-rate movement separate from compensation. If PHP spending stays constant but each dollar buys 5% fewer pesos, its USD cost rises by about 5.3%. This is arithmetic, not a currency forecast. Enter your own planning rate and compare it with the conversion terms in the quotation.
Finally, allow for your own onboarding effort. Assign a manager, prepare access and process notes, and agree on the first month’s outputs. That work remains part of your operating budget even when recruitment and local employment administration are handled for you.
05 / Practical questions
A few answers.
Before you hire.
Can I use this for virtual assistants or freelancers?
Match the actual work to the administration, finance, support or marketing role first. “Virtual assistant” describes a way of working, not a single skill level. The calculator models an employee arrangement. A contractor’s invoice needs a different comparison, including what the contractor supplies and the legal classification of the relationship.
Is the estimated cost the employee’s take-home pay?
No. The estimate includes amounts paid or reserved by the employer. Take-home pay depends on employee contributions, tax withholding and individual payroll adjustments. Show the candidate their compensation breakdown separately.
Should I divide a monthly salary by 160 or 26?
Use productive hours for a commercial hourly budget and the appropriate payroll basis for statutory calculations. This calculator starts at 160 hours per month to match KamelBPO’s site comparisons; you can change that assumption. Neither 160 hours nor 26 days is a universal payroll divisor. A holiday or premium calculation needs the employee’s actual pay arrangement. See DOLE’s monthly- and daily-paid distinctions.
Does the guide tell me what annual raise to promise?
No. Separate any legally required wage adjustment from a company’s salary review. Review performance, expanded responsibilities, internal equity and current market evidence before setting a raise. The figures here are starting benchmarks, not a commitment to a fixed annual increase.
06 / Evidence and method
Clear sources.
Visible assumptions.
Role data: figures were transcribed from the cited pages, rather than averaged across unlike sources. Public sample sizes were not provided for every role.
Official context: the PSA chart uses 2024 observations, not a 2026 survey. Employer contributions and the 13th-month provision use the official schedules and guidance linked below, with the 2026 PhilHealth rate checked separately.
Kamel model: salary-package structure and the fixed ₱1,079.67 monthly HMO provision are adapted from Kamel’s planning workbook. The illustrative split uses five-sixths basic salary and one-sixth allowance, matching the workbook’s ₱30,000 example; this is not a confirmed percentage for every offer. Government contributions use their own assessment bases and caps; the displayed percentages are calculated against the salary package. The model includes 13th-month pay, excludes optional cash bonuses and schedule-dependent extras, and adds US$500 per employee per month for infrastructure and management. It is a planning estimate, not a payroll or take-home-pay calculation.
